Furcifer verrucosus Mating

Furcifer verrucosus is a notably shy and nervous chameleon species that tends to react defensively to perceived threats, including humans. Its typical response includes hissing, opening its mouth wide, and displaying threatening behaviors.
During courtship, however, the dynamics may shift significantly. Males exhibit gentler behaviour, imposing the female, carefully observing during courtship. They wait for cues indicating the female's receptivity. Once a sign of readiness is detected, the male will softly crawl up the female's back to initiate copulation, with typically maintaining a half-curled position with an elevated tail of the female.
It is a hope for the future generation of this enigmatic species from the dry, thorny forests of Madagascar.
