FIRST COLOR PHOTOGRAPH OF THE YEMEN CHAMELEON, Chameleo calyptratus, WAS PUBLISHED IN 1985
In the beginning of eighties, Johannes Peter Fritz and Felix Schütte were the first brave travellers collecting herpetological data in Yemen. They also collected some data on the Yemen chameleon.
In 1985, J.P. Fritz wrote his M.S. Thesis and published the first color photographs of that majestic species… The photo got almost forgotten due to lower number of copies of his work and hard accessibility. Two years later, together with F. Schütte, they have published a report and reused the original photo in it. It almost lost its first place because in the same Journal, another paper on the same species with a magnificent photo by Meerman and Boomsma was published too…
