An Undescribed Chameleon from SW Ethiopia

17/04/2025

The species complex of the Ethiopian Highland Chameleon," Trioceros affinis complex" contains a cluster of closely related species scattered on isolated locations ofver the Ethiopian highlands on both sides of the Great African Rift.

Recently, the Trioceros wolfgangboehmei was described from Bale Mts, but there is still a series of undescribed forms within this complex.

At the village of Chencha, in the Dose people area on the high peeks above the eastern shores of the lake Abiyata, a population of undescribed chameleons was discovered by myself already in 2003. It still waits for its formal description.
