Trioceros johnstoni

Trioceros johnstoni is occupying montane and sub-montane forests at altitudes between 1,000 and 2,500 m (3,300–8,200 ft) in the Albertine Rift of eastern DRC, western Burundi, western Rwanda, and southwestern Uganda, but also tolerates agricultural and semi-urbanized areas, if trees remain present.

This species has a large distribution, of which 80% is estimated to consist of suitable habitat (IUCN Assessment).

However, its range is clustered into several isolated patches, the pertinent populations may represent separate forms/species:

RUWENZORI: form typical by red eyes in males

BWINDI: form typical by light blue eyes in males

RWANDA, BURUNDI: form typical by dark blue eyes in males
