Kinyongia multituberculata

Bali, Indonesia

Kinyongia multituberculata was discovered in central Bali, Indonesia.

In the first two decades of 21st century, tens of specimens of K. multituberculata were (probably illegally) imported to Indonesia. They were kept mainly in Java (many specimens were shown on facebook), but some were transported to Bali. Based on an anonymous report, a pet trader decided to free range them in central Bali and few specimens were released in a selected suitable place in the highlands to produce offspring to be collected for trade.

Escapees are occasionally collected close to the place of release.
